Hands off the future: Stop the military surveillance takeover of AI

Artificial intelligence was meant to empower humanity- not put our futures in the hands of surveillance firms and war profiteers. But today, giants like Palantir and OpenAI are embracing that path: boardrooms are stuffed with ex-military brass, AI tools are funding military drone and cyber warfare programs- and civilian oversight is AWOL.

why it matters:
AI shapes everything- from workplace automation to electoral influence. When power over it is consolidated by companies with deep ties to defense and surveillance, our digital lives become tools of control. Public trust is eroded, rights are threatened, and oversight disappears.

THE EVIDENCE:

-open AI now holds a $200 million Pentagon contract

-Palantir leads a massive “Stargate” “AI-defense alliance that includes OpenAI

-leadership is militarized: ex-NSA general Paul Nakasone palantir CEO is now an army reservist

the solution:

  1. Full transparency- disclose all military contracts, board or reserve roles and funding sources.

  2. Congressional oversight- pass legislation requiring public review before AI systems are militarily deployed

  3. Independent governance- create civilian- led ethics bodies with real authority inside every AI firm.

  4. Community control- give local governments and communities a direct voice in approved AI use.

CALL TO ACTION: Join me calling on policymakers, tech employees, students, and concerned citizens: e-mail Mike Kelley or John Fetterman, organize locally, demand safe AI- with democratic protections in place. We can’t sit silent while AI becomes another military tool. Together, we can reclaim the promise of technology- safe, fair, and for all.

There are so many different scenarios out there about why a woman needs an abortion, some rare that most of us have probably never heard about, some common. We can’t possibly hear them all. That’s why I believe that the decision is up to woman and her doctor.

MY EXPERIENCE:

In late 2013, during my sophomore year of high school, I found out I was pregnant. I had always felt that I would become a mother at a young age—though maybe not that young. For me, there was never a question: I was going to raise my child. Whoever wanted to support me could stay in my life, and whoever didn’t was free to walk away.

Telling my parents was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. They were furious at first, but ultimately, I was fortunate to have their support. In June 2014, I became a mother. And I want to make this very clear: I am not running for office in spite of being a mother—I am running because I am a mother.

At the time, I was able to access government assistance programs that gave me the opportunity to finish high school. Childcare assistance allowed me to place my son in daycare so I could attend classes, and WIC provided formula when breastfeeding during the school day wasn’t possible. These programs weren’t handouts—they were lifelines. Because of them, I graduated on time with my class.

My son was also on Medicaid during the first eight years of his life. He faced some minor health issues as an infant, but thanks to early access to care, he grew into a healthy child. Without that coverage, his story—and mine—could have been very different.

Becoming a mother at 16 changed me completely. It forced me to grow up quickly, but it also opened my eyes. I began to ask myself: How do I want others to treat my child? More importantly, how do I want my child to treat others?

This is why I believe so strongly in protecting and expanding programs that give families the support they need. They don’t just help individuals in the moment—they strengthen our communities for generations to come.

To be clear, under the Roe v Wade law,it was only legal to get an abortion in the second or third trimester IF it was for the health of the mother.

time for PA to officially recognize indigenous nations

Why it matters:

-Pennsylvania has no federally recognized tribes today

-That absence was intentional, the result of cultural erasure

Recognition means:

-protecting sacred lands

-teaching honest history in schools

-giving indigenous voices a role in decisions

About the background photo: Pennsylvania’s dark history

The photo is of the Carlisle Indian Industrial school. The school’s philosophy was “kill the Indian to save the man” The way they went about achieving this was to forcibly remove Native American children from their families to “Americanize” them. Students were forbidden from speaking in their native languages, practicing their culture, and were given new, English names.

(if you are viewing from your phone, you won’t get to see most of the image but there are at least 200 students pictured.)

More on the Carlisle Industrial school:

-Carlisle served as a model for over 150 other off reservation boarding schools across the country, replicating its policies and practices.

-ran from 1879-1918

-7,800 students from 140 different tribes were affected

-estimated 200 burials in the SCHOOL CEMETERY

-Poor living conditions, malnutrition, and the rapid spread of contagious disease

-the effort to repatriate the remains didn’t start until 2021

*FARA (foreign agents registration act) United States law that requires registration for those in the USA acting for a foreign principle in specific ways including, political activities aimed at influencing the U.S. government or its citizens, public relations, political consulting, publicity, information services, representing foreign interests before the U.S government, and fundraising or distributing funds for a foreign principle. FARA aims to ensure transparency in foreign influence within the U.S. by requiring public disclosure of relationships and activities of those acting on behalf of foreign entities. Sounds exactly like what an Israeli foreign lobby would be registered as, right? Wrong.

*AIPAC is NOT registered as a foreign lobby

*most lobbyists are businesses that make money representing clients. Whereas AIPAC is an ideologically based lobbyist non profit that is funded by donors. That is their loophole for not being a foreign lobby.

*they claim to be for the advancement of the US Israeli relationship in ways that enhance security for both countries

I would love to meet with Dr.Kelly and get some advice on how we can go about fixing this!.

In my own town in Pennsylvania, we saw a father, get shot by a parole officer, at 10o’clock at night, unarmed. Had the needed to subdue a person do they not have pepper spray, batons, tasers? They CHOSE the leathal weapon. It was caught on a ring. Our residents are demanding justice for Marchello D. Woodard “Chello”

Pennsylvania roads and bridges

Several bridges in Pennsylvania have been identified as being in poor condition, some facing potential closure or weight restrictions due to structural issues. Specifically, some bridges in the Philadelphia area, including the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, Walt Whitman Bridge, Commodore Barry Bridge, and Betsy Ross Bridge, are under review by the National Transportation Safety Board for collapse risk. Additionally, the Route 420 bridge (Wanamaker Avenue bridge) in Delaware County was recently closed due to deterioration.
